Building Toys

Building with blocks is not just child's play. When children stack blocks, fit them together, and create buildings, they are exercising their imaginations, their fine motor skills, and their eye-hand coordination skills all at once! Colorful blocks can be used to learn the names of colors, and to learn matching by color, shape, and/or size. Use blocks with letters to learn the alphabet and to spell simple words, such as go, car, ball, or cat. The younger the child, the larger the blocks should be. As your child's fine motor skills mature, and mouthing of objects decreases, you can use smaller blocks. No matter what your goal is, remember to have fun playing with blocks!
